Guatemala city is divided into 25 zones and it is one of 17 counties that form the Department of Guatemala. You can find long term rental in any zone but some are not advisable if you are planning to enjoy your stay.

Zone 4 is very safe and trendy neighborhood part of the new part of the city.

Zone 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.

Not recommended zone

Zone 3, 6, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. Probably all of them have safe gated neighborhoods but it is still dangerous to get there at night.
